About 2 weeks ago, a very close friend of mine, the inimitable Matt O’Connor, asked me to help out locally on an Adidas campaign they were filming in LA.  Initially, I was hesitant to take on the task – I was in the middle of several projects at my day-to-day and dealing with some serious issues at home.  But I also thought, “Hey, the Universe would not throw this your way if you were not intended to learn from it,” and boy, did I ever learn…

I haven’t produced a campaign in this capacity in many moons and it was a learning curve, for sure.  It has been a while since I walked on set with the intention to do nothing but get my hands dirty and make rounds to ensure each department is operating smoothly.  While I felt like the day could have moved smoother – I acknowledged that my ridiculously high expectations are not easy to achieve (note to self when managing my employees).  With less than 24 hours to bring this campaign to life, we all pulled together an amazing product to be proud of.  Most profoundly, at around the eleventh hour, I experienced a shift in my psyche as I realized this project reminded me why I went to film school - and what it's like to work with people you genuinely respect and are excited to be around.

It was also nice to spend some face time with Matt.  In my opinion, our relationship has always boiled down to a soul connection – and even as we grow into different people, our souls still recognize and identify with one another.  While we did not have time to catch up, in the quiet moments I still found peace in his company - a familiar rock in the middle of a storm.

After we wrapped the commercial, I dove straight into a full day of creative planning for two projects that were recently greenlit by one of our clients.  Today will consist of wrapping up paperwork and seeing the new JK Rowling film.  I’m pretty excited to have some down time this weekend and pick back up my regular meditation schedule.  Hope you all have something fantastic planned!

PS: Can’t even believe next week is Thanksgiving… where has this year gone!?
